Never one to rest on our laurels, we’ve been busy readying some special incentives for those planning on attending the Our Manderley LP release show (Jan. 29th, Berkley Front, MI, USA).
First off, the show is a Sh! Mob event. Even if you can’t attend, start gathering unique photos, videos, and witty tweets.
Secondly, if you’re a fan of gig posters you’re in luck. We’ll be giving away 25 limited edition 18×24″ hand screened posters to the first 25 purchasers of Our Manderley on vinyl. The “Ghost Swan” design is limited to a run of 50 (designed by our very own Randy Bishop and screened by Progress of Design in Ferndale, MI). After the giveaway, posters will be available for sale at the lunatic low price of $10.
Thirdly, our in-house amateur craft brewers (Chris & Randy) brewed a special wheat ale to coincide with the release. Instead of hording it all to themselves they’ve decided to hand over 25 custom labeled bottles to go along with the poster giveaway. That’s right, if you’re one of the lucky first 25 to purchase Our Manderley on vinyl you’ll get both the “Ghost Swan” poster and a bottle of “Our Manderale.”
Oh, and don’t forget, the Our Manderley LP is already bundled with a sticker and download card (included in the LP jacket). Put it all together and you’re getting a purchase valued at over $40 for the low-low price of $12*!
Recession? Ha!
* Attendees are subject to a $5 “door cover” charge.
Suburban Sprawl Music is the best Metro-Detroit label to release a holiday themed compilation every year since 2002 ever! And just like last year, we sent in a brand new song quite literally written and recorded days before the submission deadline.
Enough about us. The 2010 SSM Holiday compilation has 48 tracks sprawling 2-discs and it’s free. Get to getting.
Thanks to Luke Hartley and his team of diligent helpers, our first video from Our Manderley is online. It’s for Call Me the Fool (lyrics).
When you’re done watching it, swing over to Luke’s blog for a sneak peak of the Our Manderley LP cover.
Though we haven’t settled on a formal release date yet, things are shaping up quickly for Our Manderley. All 10 tracks have been mixed and the album art is complete. 12″ Vinyl will be the first format Our Manderley will be available in. We’re limiting the first run to 300. Each of those will include a sticker and a download card. Here’s a sneak peak at some of the design elements (1, 2) and the track list:
Sh! The Octopus have officially changed our name to The Bell Beat. We’re in the process of editing all of our social network profiles, pages, etc… Please bear with us during any bumps in the intertubes.
First off, an apology to everyone paying attention to our little band. A few months back we said our sophomore album, Our Manderley was scheduled to be released on a date that has long ago passed. Well, we severely underestimated the time we needed to put out an album with no reservations. Meaning, something we’d consider the best we could offer. No worries, we are going to release it soon, but we’re not going to inform you of how soon until we’re more confident on the time line. Or at least until we’re done tracking :).
The best part about the release is we have multiple elements planned besides a round piece of plastic. One of those being a video. Our friend Luke Hartley is helping us with it. Check out some test footage here: Anybody See My Tuner?.
So hang in there. We promise the wait will be worthwhile…
A little over a month back we humbly accepted an invitation to contribute a song to Suburban Sprawl Music’s annual holiday themed compilation. Fast forward to today (Dec. 1st) and the entire 52 track comp’ is available for FREE. Head over to the SSM site to download it.
Detroit based photographer Luke Hartley shot some stellar pics of The Bell Beat during Fucking Awesome Fest. Navigate over to Luke’s blog The Driver and the Passenger and take a look.
Our long (and mostly painful) search for a 5th member has finally come to an end. Marina Trejo (MySpace) has officially joined The Bell Beat. Her first show with the band is scheduled August 16th at 9PM for Fucking Awesome Fest at the Majestic Theatre Center (Detroit, MI). See you then!
Our music is now “playlisted” on WDET, FM 101.9 Detroit, MI (thank you Ann Delisi) and The Station, AM 1610 Hamtramck, MI.
We’re especially excited about The Station. They’re a brand new broadcast set to air on May Day (workers unite)! The signal will only reach as far as the borders of Hamtramck but their DIY ideals are inline with our own.
